Flag Football Game Preview: Marana Tigers vs. Desert Vista Thunder + Official Tickets

Marana has gone a perfect 3-0 against Desert Vista recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Tigers will face off against the Thunder at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Marana sitting on 12 straight victories and Desert Vista on four.

Marana is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Xavier College Prep, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Marana was ranked second). The Tigers took their matchup on Monday with ease, bagging a 28-0 win over the Gators. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Isabella Garcia, who threw for 272 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of her passes. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times she's played.

Marana's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Alyssa Valencia.

Meanwhile, Desert Vista's offense rose to the challenge against an Aztecs defense that boasted an average of only 14.5 points allowed on Monday. The Thunder blew past Corona del Sol 37-14. The Thunder are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the sixth game they've won by 20+ points this season.

Desert Vista's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Marana, their win bumped their record up to 12-0.

Everything came up roses for Marana against Desert Vista in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 42-13 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
