Football Recap: Holly Pond Comes Up Short + How To Watch

After soaring to 60 points the game before, Holly Pond was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They took a blow against the Geraldine Bulldogs, falling 45-6. The Broncos haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Boston Gibbs threw for 103 yards and one touchdown. Sawyer Jordan was his top target, picking up 46 receiving yards.

Geraldine found their leader in sophomore Jon Beck Wade, who rushed for 163 yards and four scores on only 14 carries. With that strong performance, Beck Wade is now averaging an impressive 103.2 rushing yards per game. Braxton Franklin was another key player, rushing for 59 yards and one TD on only five carries.

Holly Pond's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-2. As for Geraldine, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holly Pond will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Whitesburg Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Geraldine, they will face off against Boaz at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
