Baseball Game Preview: De Anza Dons vs. El Cerrito Gauchos

For the second straight game, De Anza will face off against El Cerrito. The Dons will head out on the road to face off against the Gauchos at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. De Anza has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with five straight defeats, while El Cerrito will come in with three straight victories.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when De Anza and El Cerrito meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Dons came up short against the Gauchos, falling 15-5.

For El Cerrito's part, Jackson Beebout looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave Beebout a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jaxon Coles, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ellis Fuller, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

El Cerrito was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

De Anza's loss dropped their record down to 1-9-1. As for El Cerrito, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.
