Soccer Game Preview: Richards vs. Marian Catholic

The Richards Bulldogs are taking a road trip to square off against the Marian Catholic Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Richards' offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for 12 straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Richards fell victim to Blue Island Eisenhower and their airtight defense on Thursday. They came up short against the Cardinals, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, Richards can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 413th, while Blue Island Eisenhower are ranked 169th).

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last game, Marian Catholic made sure to put some goals up on the board against St. Anthony on Saturday. They never let the Roman Legion get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. It was an even better day for Nyla Williams as she scored three goals for her team.

With the win, Marian Catholic broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-14-1. As for Richards, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.

Richards might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Marian Catholic when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
