Basketball Recap: Austin Comes Up Short

Austin suffered their biggest loss since November 16th on Friday. They took a blow against the Westlake Chaparrals, falling 61-33. While losing is never fun, the Maroons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 739th, while the Chaparrals are ranked 105th).

Austin's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Westlake, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-5.

Austin and Cedar Ridge will round out the year against one another at at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th. As for Westlake, they will face off against San Angelo Central at 9:30 a.m. on Friday. San Angelo Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 games -- so hopefully Westlake likes a good challenge.
