Basketball Recap: Frankfort Takes a Loss

Frankfort was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 22nd straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 64-28 defeat at the hands of the Southmont Mounties. The Hot Dogs were probably out for revenge after losing 62-32 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Frankfort had strong showings from Ava Jarman, who went 6 for 14 on her way to 15 points and six boards, and Ella Mcatee, who posted 12 points and eight steals. That was a full 53.6% of Frankfort's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Ella Barry continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Southmont, going 12 of 17 en route to 30 points. Barry's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Claire Kessler was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 19 rebounds.

Frankfort's defeat dropped their record down to 0-21. As for Southmont, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-10 record this season.

Frankfort will face off against Logansport at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Southmont, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-27 win against Crawfordsville on the 25th.
