Basketball Recap: Sheffield Takes a Loss

The Sheffield Knights had to suffer through a 61-25 loss at the hands of the Memphis East Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 359th, while the Mustangs are ranked 164th).

Sheffield's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Paris Johnson, who posted two points along with four steals and three blocks. Johnson has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kendall Thomas, who scored seven points and ten boards.

Sheffield's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Memphis East, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Sheffield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Memphis East, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 70-48 victory against Wooddale on the 2nd.
