Baseball Recap: Foran Comes Up Short

Foran extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 8-8 in the process. They lost 10-3 to the West Haven Blue Devils. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Lions have suffered since April 14th.

As for West Haven, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.

For West Haven's part, Brady Price made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Price was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Evan Jones was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Colin Murray, who went 2-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Foran will square off against East Haven at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Yellowjackets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.08 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for West Haven, they will venture away from home to face off against Cheshire at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Rams' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Blue Devils' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
