Softball Recap: Cranston West's Loss Ends Eight-Game Winning Streak at Home

Cranston West dropped their record down to 6-5 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They lost 11-1 to the La Salle Academy Rams. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Falcons, who until this contest were averaging 4.09 runs allowed.

Cranston West saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Siena Nardelli, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for La Salle Academy, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 13-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games.

On La Salle Academy's side, Gia DeNinno spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. DeNinno has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, La Salle Academy got a massive performance out of Alivia Ring, who fired off two home runs and three runs while going 2-for-2. Those three runs gave Ring a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Sell, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.

Coincidentally, Cranston West and La Salle Academy will both be playing Moses Brown the next time they take the field. The Rams will host the Quakers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Falcons will head out to face them at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
