Softball Recap: Westfield Wins Going Away Against Mccutcheon

Westfield had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 12-12 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They blew past the McCutcheon Mavericks 13-4. With that win, the Shamrocks brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Chloe Tanner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Adelyn Kurth was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Reese Mahannah was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

As for McCutcheon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-14. The loss was just more heartbreak for they, who fell 8-6 when the teams last met back in May of 2023.

On McCutcheon's side, Mallorie Beutel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Westfield and McCutcheon are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Shamrocks will square off against Zionsville at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for McCutcheon, they will face off against Harrison at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
