Baseball Recap: Goldsboro's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contest, Goldsboro brought some dynamite into their most recent match. They never let the Spring Creek Gators get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Brayden Smith made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Smith was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Goldsboro got a massive performance out of Avery Grant, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Grant is becoming a predictor of the Cougars' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 3-12 when he doesn't). Gray Seegars was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Goldsboro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spring Creek only posted an OBP of .409.

Goldsboro's record now sits at 7-14. As for Spring Creek, their record is now 6-8.

Coming up, Goldsboro will take on Eastern Wayne at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a 16-game losing streak. As for Spring Creek, they will face off against Beddingfield at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bruins have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.11 runs per game on average), something the Gators will no doubt try to take advantage of.
