Highland has gone a perfect 4-0 against Apple Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Highland Bulldogs are taking a road trip to square off against the Apple Valley Sun Devils at 11:00 a.m. Highland is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
Highland is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Burroughs 11-2 on Friday. With that victory, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Paisley Memory was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one triple and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Highland got a massive performance out of Bella Williams, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Williams also put up a home run, which was her first of the season. Aubrey Reyes was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
Highland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Apple Valley fell victim to Quartz Hill and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Royals, falling 8-0. The Sun Devils have struggled against the Royals recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.
Apple Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was LIZA LOZANO, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.
Apple Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3-1. As for Highland, their record now sits at 5-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Highland hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Apple Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Highland's way against Apple Valley in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Highland made off with a 10-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Highland since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
