Football Recap: Valley Drops Highest Score of Season Against Sylacauga

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valley). They came out on top against the Sylacauga Aggies by a score of 42-35 on Friday. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Aggies are ranked 209th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

A big part of Valley's win came down to the chemistry between Caden Foreman and his top target Aaden Johnson. Foreman threw for 169 yards and a pair of TDs while Johnson picked up 66 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Foreman's passing game has become a key predictor of Valley's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.

Despite the loss, Sylacauga still got an impressive performance from Cj Franklin, who rushed for 137 yards and two scores, and also threw for 344 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Valley's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Sylacauga, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Valley is set to take on their familiar foe Elmore County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Foreman and Gage Davis. Meanwhile, Sylacauga will face off against rival Marbury at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
