Baseball Game Preview: Columbia Bruins vs. King's Way Christian Knights

Columbia is 1-9 against King's Way Christian since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Bruins will square off against the Knights at 4:00 p.m. Columbia has given up an average of 6.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Columbia's last matchup with Elma could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Friday. The Bruins came up short against the Eagles, falling 11-4. The Bruins' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Columbia saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Wang, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Wang also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, King's Way Christian earned a 6-1 win over Cascade Christian on Saturday.

Adam Klotzer looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Reece Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Sam Somarakis was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

King's Way Christian pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Columbia, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Columbia might still be hurting after the 14-4 loss they got from King's Way Christian in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Bruins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
