Basketball Game Preview: Enfield Eagles vs. Glastonbury Guardians

The Enfield Eagles will take on the Glastonbury Guardians at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Enfield sitting on three straight wins and Glastonbury on six.

Last Wednesday, Enfield was fully in charge, breezing past Simsbury 64-34. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 23 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Glastonbury was able to grind out a solid victory over East Hartford on Wednesday, taking the game 65-56.

Enfield better keep an eye on David Smith. He was instrumental in Glastonbury's win, dropping a double-double on 36 points and 12 rebounds. The matchup was Smith's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Danny Wallace, who posted seven points and nine rebounds.

Glastonbury smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive games.

The win got Enfield back to even at 3-3. As for Glastonbury, their victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

Enfield didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Glastonbury in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 71-67 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Smith, who dropped a double-double on 42 points and 12 boards.
