Basketball Game Preview: Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences Vipers vs. East Valley Falcons

The Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences Vipers and the East Valley Falcons will face off at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 0-3 during that stretch of close contests.

Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences fought the good fight in their overtime game against East Valley on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 55-53. While the Vipers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Falcons 14-9 in the first quarter.

East Valley found their leader in freshman Jayule Song, who posted 22 points and three steals. Song is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Eero Wolfe, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences' defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-5. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 3.25 points. As for East Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
