            Softball Recap: Plainville Cardinals vs. Republic County Buffaloes        
        
		
        
        
            Plainville extended their losing streak  (dating back to last season) to nine  on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-6 in the process. They came up short against  the Republic County Buffaloes, falling  14-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Buffaloes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  22-7  on Tuesday.
As for Republic County, the  win was  the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-10. Those  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 17.7 runs over those games.
For Republic County's part,  Drew Skocny made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   tossing 2.1 innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. Skocny was even better at the plate,  going 3-for-4 with three  RBI, two  runs,  and one  stolen base. That's the most  hits  she has posted since April 1st.
 In other batting news,  Grae Siemsen was  excellent,  getting on base  in both of her plate appearances with two  stolen bases and two  runs. She has been hot for a while, having  posted  at least one  stolen base the last nine times she's  played.  Bri Horner also deserves some recognition as  she  got her first  hits of the season.
 Plainville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Republic County, they will challenge Beloit at 4:00  p.m.  on May 9. The Trojans will roll in looking for their  fourth straight  win, something the Buffaloes surely won't give up without a fight.
