Northridge (Greeley, Colo.) defeated
Mead (Longmont, Colo.) 56-34 while riding the arm of
Robert Fulton, who tossed five touchdown passes.
The Grizzlies were up 47-21 at the half after taking the lead on a Fulton touchdown pass to
Michael Graff in the second quarter.
Northridge expanded its lead to 35 points entering the fourth quarter. NHS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by Fulton to
Brad Marx.
Fulton stood out for the Greeley school in the win. The senior quarterback ran for one touchdown. He has now scored nine touchdowns on the season.
Griffin Nelson played well for the Maverick. The junior quarterback threw four touchdowns. His performance brought his touchdown total to six on the year.
The defeat comes as a step back for Mead, which notched a 34-27 victory over Berthoud in its previous outing. The victory was a step in the right direction for the Grizzlies, which was coming off a 28-16 defeat at the hands of Silver Creek in its previous game. The loss snapped Mead's 2-game winning streak.
In a 3A Tri-Valley game next week Mead (3-4) takes on Skyline, and Northridge (6-1) will go up against Berthoud also in a 3A Tri-Valley game.
