Recap: Omaha Northwest Huskies vs. Grand Island Islanders
This season hasn't been kind to The Omaha Northwest Huskies, who are still winless after their ninth matchup. They were outmatched by Grand Island on the road and fell 79-6. Omaha Northwest has struggled against Grand Island recently, as their match on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Grand Island found their leader in underclassman Nelsyn Wheeler, who rushed for 56 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. Ryker Booth was in the mix too, providing Grand Island with two touchdowns.
Omaha Northwest's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-2 Omaha North and 5-4 Bellevue East (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61.1% over those games). As for Grand Island, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Omaha Northwest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Grand Island will head out on the road to face off against Kearney at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kearney is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
