Soccer Game Preview: Heritage vs. Deer Valley

The Heritage Patriots will take on the Deer Valley Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Heritage will be strutting in after a win while Deer Valley will be coming in after a defeat.

Heritage will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals on Saturday, then bounced right back against Arroyo on Tuesday. Heritage came out on top against Arroyo by a score of 4-2. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Patriots' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 715th, while the Dons are ranked 284th).

Heritage hit Arroyo with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Chiemezie Nomeh (2), Nick Moreland, and James Purvey.

Meanwhile, Deer Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 3-1 to Antioch. That's two games in a row now that the Wolverines have lost by exactly two goals.

Heritage's win bumped their record up to 3-4-1. As for Deer Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Everything went Heritage's way against Deer Valley in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as Heritage made off with a 5-1 victory. Does Heritage have another victory up their sleeve, or will Deer Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
