Basketball Recap: Schulenburg Takes a Loss

Schulenburg's tournament run continued when they took on Caddo Mills on Saturday. The Schulenburg Shorthorns fell just short of the Caddo Mills Foxes by a score of 40-37.

Despite the defeat, Schulenburg saw an underclassman step up: freshman Miranda Bonner went 7 of 14 on her way to 18 points and five steals. Bonner is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Bubella, who posted six points.

Schulenburg has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season. As for Caddo Mills, they pushed their record up to 8-11 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Schulenburg wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 43-27 win against Bellville on the 14th. As for Caddo Mills, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-41 loss against Sulphur Springs on the 17th.
