Oakton barely beat Westfield the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars' pitchers stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 6-0 shutout on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Oakton's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Westfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oakton will challenge Chantilly at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westfield, they will venture away from home to take on James Madison at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warhawks' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
