Baseball Recap: Mckeel Academy Has No Trouble Against Four Corners

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, McKeel Academy brought some dynamite into their most recent game. Everything went their way against the Four Corners Coyotes on Wednesday as the McKeel Academy Wildcats made off with a 15-0 victory. The Wildcats not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 20, 2024.

The result came thanks to Caleb Clanton's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, Brody McMillan and Aedan Tompkins did most of the damage at the plate: McMillan scored two runs while going 1-for-2, while Tompkins scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those two runs gave McMillan a new career-high. Jorge Cordova also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

McKeel Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .542. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

McKeel Academy now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Four Corners, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4-1.

Looking ahead, McKeel Academy will be playing at home against Haines City at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. McKeel Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Haines City's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Four Corners, they and Frostproof will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Four Corners is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
