Softball Recap: Goodland Drops Season-High Score on Scott

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Goodland). They put the hurt on the Scott Beavers with a sharp 16-1 win on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Cowboys with their most commanding win of the season.

Allison Cure was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Elly Evert and Alessa Rickard did most of the damage at the plate: Evert went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Rickard went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave Evert a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dani Fisher, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.

Goodland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 11.

Goodland's victory bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Scott, they dropped their record down to 4-9 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Goodland will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Beavers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
