Baseball Recap: Del Oro Takes a Loss

Del Oro fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Davis Sr. on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 5-4. The Golden Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Blue Devils earlier this season, when they won 10-0.

Del Oro got a good showing from Beckett Crow, who tossed four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Crow has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Will Stark was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Kael Lumbert was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Del Oro dropped their record down to 13-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Davis Sr., their record is now 10-6-1.

Del Oro and Davis Sr. should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Golden Eagles (ranked 74th) will meet Oak Ridge (ranked 233rd) at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Davis Sr. will square off against Granite Bay at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (110 vs. 243).
