Softball Recap: Allen East Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Allen East, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Columbus Grove Bulldogs 19-18 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since April 24, 2024.

Taylor Nickles was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Ava Morris was another key player, scoring four runs while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.

Allen East always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbus Grove only posted an OBP of .438.

Allen East's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Columbus Grove, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Coming up, Allen East will square off against Hardin Northern at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Columbus Grove, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Continental at 5:00 p.m. The Pirates will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
