Softball Recap: Sonora Gets the Win

Sonora posted their closest win since April 7th on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the El Dorado Golden Hawks. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Jordan Venegas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on eight hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sonora secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Aliana Pacheco, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Pacheco has hit this season.

Sonora's victory bumped their record up to 9-15. As for El Dorado, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-10.

Looking ahead, Sonora will challenge Brea Olinda at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. El Dorado does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
