Basketball Game Preview: Santiago Sharks vs. Corona Panthers

The Santiago Sharks will face off against the Corona Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Corona took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Santiago, who comes in off a win.

On Saturday, Santiago humbled Hoover with a 75-46 victory. Given the Sharks' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Cardinals are ranked 636th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Corona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a blow against Roosevelt, falling 88-38. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 53-21.

Santiago has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. As for Corona, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-11.

Santiago took their victory against Corona when the teams last played last Thursday by a conclusive 78-54. Will Santiago repeat their success, or does Corona have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
