Basketball Recap: St. Francis Sharks vs. Stevenson Pirates
The St. Francis Sharks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 64-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Stevenson. St. Francis has not had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Loss or not, St. Francis got some senior leadership from Sam Braun and Joseph Rose. Braun scored 28 points along with two steals, while Rose. scored 20 points. That was a full 33.9% of St. Francis' points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Markel Parker, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Stevenson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Harry Marquess out in front who scored 12 points along with six assists. Another player making a difference was Kekoa Williams, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.
St. Francis has been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-18 record this season. As for Stevenson, their win bumped their record up to 8-12.
St. Francis will head out on the road to take on the Breakers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pacific Grove will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Stevenson, they will be playing at home against the Condors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
