Vernon Hills waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Maine East Blue Demons by a score of 50-40. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 56-42 back in December of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Maine East saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Arabella Silva went 9 of 22 on her way to 25 points and four steals. That was a full 62.5% of Maine East's points, marking the 27th time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Vernon Hills has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. As for Maine East, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-15.

Vernon Hills didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 57-44 defeat against Rolling Meadows on the 1st. Maine East has also already played their next game, a 55-49 victory against Elk Grove on the 5th.
