Volleyball Recap: DME Academy Comes Up Short

DME Academy suffered their biggest defeat since September 17, 2024 on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to the Gainesville Hurricanes. The - have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

DME Academy couldn't get the W, but boy did they fight for it: two sets took extra rallies. The match finished with set scores of 27-25, 25-14, 26-24.

Juanita Hernandez paced DME Academy's offense, picking up 12 kills. Hernandez were helped by Mar Villena Dura and Olivia Lewis, who contributed 12 assists each. Keri Petro controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Leading Gainesville to victory were Addyson Hauptman and Whitney Kinsell. Hauptman had 13 digs and six assists, while Kinsell had seven assists and five digs. That's the most digs Kinsell has posted over her last ten matches.

DME Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Gainesville, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-7.

DME Academy has already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Lake Highland Prep on the 30th. As for Gainesville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Trinity Catholic on the 30th.
