Baseball Recap: Lyon County Gets the Win

Lyon County posted their closest win since March 24th on Thursday. They skirted past the Crittenden County Rockets 6-5. That's more bragging rights for the Lyons, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Hudson Phillips was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Lyon County is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 8-14 otherwise. Phillips was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Cohen Wiggins was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

The victory made it two in a row for Lyon County and bumps their season record up to 10-15. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Crittenden County, they moved to 10-15 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Lyon County will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Rockets: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
