Basketball Recap: Gaither Takes a Loss

Gaither and Bloomingdale squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Gaither had to settle for second. They were dealt a 69-14 defeat at the hands of the Bloomingdale Bulls. While losing is never fun, the Cowboys can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 351st, while the Bulls are ranked 57th).

Bloomingdale found their leader in sophomore Jayla Griffin, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. Griffin is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kalese Salter, who went 5 for 9 en route to 11 points and five steals.

Gaither's loss dropped their record down to 13-13. As for Bloomingdale, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 19-5.

As of now, neither Gaither nor Bloomingdale have any future games scheduled.
