Recap: Crystal City Javelinas vs. Southwest Dragons
The Crystal City Javelinas's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Southwest by a score of 29-27. Crystal City lost against Southwest in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 42-38 score last time.
It was another big night for Lillian Covarrubias, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds for Southwest. The matchup was Covarrubias' sixth in a row with at least ten points. Stephanie Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Crystal City now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Southwest, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-5.
Crystal City's road trip will continue as they head out to face Martin at 4:30 p.m. on December 1st. Martin is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Southwest, they will face off against United at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. One thing working in United's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight contests.
