Basketball Recap: Fort Gibson's Run of Five Straight Wins Now Over

Fort Gibson and Weatherford squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Fort Gibson had to settle for second. They lost 46-26 to the Weatherford Eagles. The Tigers were red-hot offensively heading into the game (they scored no less than 55 points in the five matches prior), but the Eagles' defense proved too tough.

With the loss, Fort Gibson broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.2 points over those games. As for Weatherford, the win (which was their 18th in a row) raised their record to 28-1.

Looking ahead, Fort Gibson will host Crossings Christian at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Crossings Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Fort Gibson likes a good challenge. Weatherford has already played their next game (against Mount St. Mary), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
