Softball Game Preview: Central of Clay County Volunteers vs. Woodland Bobcats

The Central of Clay County Volunteers will head out to take on the Woodland Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Central of Clay County came up short against Benjamin Russell and fell 9-4. The Volunteers haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Meanwhile, Woodland had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Wolves.

Woodland pushed their record up to 28-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Central of Clay County, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-13.

Central of Clay County beat Woodland 6-3 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Volunteers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
