Basketball Recap: Jariyah Sowell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Central over Ballantyne Ridge

Central lost against Ballantyne Ridge back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The match between the Central Eagles and the Ballantyne Ridge Wolves didn't end well, with the Central Eagles falling 46-28. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Eagles came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 254th in South Carolina, while the Wolves are ranked 536th in North Carolina).

Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jariyah Sowell, who posted 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tashia Quick, who earned seven points.

Central's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Ballantyne Ridge, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-15.

Central will host Chesterfield at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Ballantyne Ridge, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Ardrey Kell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ardrey Kell will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Ballantyne Ridge surely won't give up without a fight.
