Softball Recap: Canyon Ridge Riverhawks vs. Wood River Wolverines
Canyon Ridge extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-8 in the process. They fell 16-11 to the Wood River Wolverines. The Riverhawks were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wolverines from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
Canyon Ridge saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Harleigh Slagle, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
As for Wood River, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-9. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Wood River's side, Hadley Elsbree was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Elsbree continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Marlee McLean was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Wood River beat Canyon Ridge by a score of 9-2 later that day.
