Soccer Recap: Madeira Starts off Right with Win over Walnut Hills

Madeira had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They beat the Walnut Hills Eagles by a goal, winning 2-1. For Madeira, this counts as revenge for the 1-0 victory Walnut Hills walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Marty Cowden and Matteo Caggioni scored both of Madeira's goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Madeira will venture away from home to challenge Roger Bacon at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday. As for Walnut Hills, they will head out to face off against St. Xavier at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
