Basketball Recap: Orange Grove Comes Up Short

Orange Grove came up into this matchup off a tough 21-point loss last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys by a score of 55-53 on Friday. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Fightin' Jerseys apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2018.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Falfurrias to victory, but perhaps none more so than Quisto Sanchez, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 20 rebounds. The matchup was Sanchez's third in a row with at least ten points. JB Barrera was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Orange Grove and nudges their season record down to 10-13. As for Falfurrias, their record is now 16-10.

Orange Grove will welcome San Diego at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Falfurrias, they will head out to challenge Santa Gertrudis Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Falfurrias knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Santa Gertrudis Academy likes a good challenge.
