Basketball Recap: Armstrong Takes a Loss

After flying high against Urbana University last Friday, Armstrong came back down to earth. The Armstrong Trojans fell 48-41 to the Hoopeston Cornjerkers on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Cornjerkers: they've now lost three in a row.

Hoopeston can attribute much of their success to Claire Dixon, who posted 21 points and three steals. Dixon continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mady Klaber, who scored seven points.

Armstrong's defeat dropped their record down to 10-17. As for Hoopeston, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.

Armstrong didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-46 win against Chrisman on the 6th. As for Hoopeston, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 64-52 loss against Watseka/Milford on the 6th.
