Baseball Recap: Godby Comes Up Short

Godby started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Rickards. They came up short against the Raiders on Saturday, falling 12-3. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Raiders earlier this season, when they won 15-3.

Jaylen Roque was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times he's played.

This is the second loss in a row for Godby and nudges their season record down to 5-13. As for Rickards, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-14.

Coming up, Godby will welcome Gadsden County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars are facing the Jaguars at the right time seeing as the Jaguars are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Rickards, they will take on Florida State University High School at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
