Baseball Recap: Jesuit Takes Down Countryside in a Playoff Battle

Jesuit had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They didn't even let the Countryside Cougars on the board on Monday, marking the Tigers' second-straight 9-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Wilson Andersen made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryce Besece, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Robby Santana was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Jesuit was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Countryside only posted a batting average of .211.

As for Countryside, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-9.

Jesuit will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cougars: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
