Soccer Recap: Geneseo Wins Going Away Against Clinton

Geneseo kept a clean sheet against Clinton on Thursday. They blew past the River Kings 9-0. Olivia DeSplinter had the honor of scoring the game-winner for Geneseo.

Geneseo used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Clinton. Peyton Kies played for 16 minutes having averaged 5.3 this season and Evelyn DeBane got 25 vs. an average of 15. DeBane made the most of the opportunity, scoring a goal A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.

The win made it two in a row for Geneseo and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those two games. As for Clinton, they dropped their record down to 0-6-1 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Geneseo will take on Mother McAuley at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Geneseo will be up against Mother McAuley's rather soft defense (which has allowed 2.56 goals per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Clinton, they will welcome North Scott at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
