Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for O'fallon

O'Fallon had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past the Calhoun Warriors 12-4. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Bella Schmitt and Avery Phillips did most of the damage at the plate: Schmitt went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles, while Phillips got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That's the most runs Schmitt has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sophie Wilhelm, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: O'Fallon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive games.

O'Fallon's victory bumped their record up to 15-8. As for Calhoun, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-10.

Looking ahead, O'Fallon will square off against Mt. Vernon at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Calhoun, they will challenge Columbia at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
