Softball Recap: Fort Bend Hightower Gets the Win

Fort Bend Hightower put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Fort Bend Clements Rangers a 10-0 shutout. The Hurricanes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by eight runs or more this season.

Bailie Holts tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Kourtney Jones-Caldwell was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Adriauna Coleman also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Fort Bend Hightower's record now sits at 16-3-2. As for Fort Bend Clements, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-8.

Looking ahead, Fort Bend Hightower will square off against Fort Bend Austin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed ten runs per game on average), something the Hurricanes will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Fort Bend Clements, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Bellaire at 11:30 a.m.
