Preview: Santa Rosa Warriors vs. Progreso Red Ants
Santa Rosa is 5-0 against Progreso since January of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Santa Rosa Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Progreso Red Ants at 7:00 p.m. Santa Rosa will be strutting in after a win while Progreso will be coming in after a defeat.
Even though Lyford scored an imposing 55 points on Tuesday, Santa Rosa still came out on top. Santa Rosa strolled past Lyford with points to spare, taking the game 69-55.
Santa Rosa can attribute much of their success to Bryan Rojas, who scored 20 points. Rojas' trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was David De La Cruz, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Progreso's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their tenth straight loss. They fell just short of IDEA Sports Park by a score of 55-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Progreso has suffered yet this season.
Santa Rosa has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-13 record this season. As for Progreso, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-15.
Everything came up roses for Santa Rosa against Progreso in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 100-45 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Santa Rosa since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
