Baseball Recap: Dothan Gets the Win

Dothan gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Providence Christian Eagles, sneaking past 11-9. The win continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

Aaron Walker looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Kane Shellhouse was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Emmanuel Lewis, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Dothan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Dothan's victory bumped their record up to 17-8. As for Providence Christian, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-12.

Coming up, Dothan will host Cottonwood at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bears will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Wolves surely won't give up without a fight. As for Providence Christian, they are taking a road trip to take on Northside Methodist Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a 19-game losing streak.
