Baseball Game Preview: Kingsburg Vikings vs. Fowler Redcats

The Kingsburg Vikings will face off against the Fowler Redcats at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Kingsburg 3.6, Fowler 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Kingsburg took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Kerman by a score of 6-1.

Gavin Ekizian spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on JT Sanchez, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Garcia, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

Kingsburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kerman only posted a batting average of .115.

Meanwhile, Fowler had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 12-2 victory. The Redcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 matches by six runs or more this season.

Fowler's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Kingsburg, their win bumped their record up to 18-9.

Kingsburg took their victory against Fowler when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0 score. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Redcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
