Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Eagles are ranked 306th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Avoyelles pushed their record up to 17-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Port Barre, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.
